My Journey
Embarking on the path of herbal medicine began as a journey towards my own healing. Western Medicine wasn’t offering me any relief, so I started to seek my own knowledge. My search for relief led me to an herbalist who was seeking help with her farm in Hawai’i. My journey to healing & working with plants began. Upon arrival to the farm, she boldly asserted that she could bring me relief in just five days. Faced with severe allergies that intensified upon my arrival, I found myself in a desperate search for relief amidst the lush and abundant plant life. Skeptical but desperate for a solution, I decided to give her unconventional approach a try. Under her guidance, I embraced a clean diet featuring various herbs and raw goat milk kefir, freshly crafted from the milk of her own goats. The results were nothing short of miraculous. In just five days, my symptoms vanished. I could hardly believe it—I had suffered since the age of 5, and now I was finally free.
This transformative experience was a turning point, challenging my perceptions and sparking a deep realization of the potent efficacy of natural medicine. This encounter not only healed me physically but ignited a passion within me to help others and to learn exactly why this method worked. A few years later, I moved to a town with the most charming herb shop. Working there allowed me to delve deeper into the art and science of herbalism, with the opportunity to see it in action. The owner is now a good friend and mentor of mine, a wellspring of knowledge. I am grateful for all the people on my path that have led me to this point. As they say, us herbalists stand on the shoulders of giants~
Education
I furthered my education at the International Integrative Educational Institute. I completed a two-year Professional Herbalist program taught by K.P. Khalsa. My education encompasses the Big Three herbal medicine systems—Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and Western Herbalism. Within this framework, I've delved into areas such as evaluation, diagnostic, and assessment techniques. The curriculum also extends to the realm of plant chemistry, providing me with an understanding of the constituents that determine the properties of each herb. Coupled with this is the Traditional system of energetics, which goes beyond science and back to the old way of doing things. This includes ancient diagnostic techniques & plant analyzation, some of which have been validated by modern science. Beyond these foundations, I have spent many hours doing case studies with my colleagues, putting these practices to use in real time. Analyzing, diagnosing, and creating protocols. This synthesis of traditional wisdom and modern understanding equips me to offer effective solutions for those seeking wellness.
